Time for things to rotate… and tilt!
We have already shown you the benefits of quick couplers and the different types available. Now it’s time for the next level: the tiltrotator. For many applications, it is indispensable – allowing you to rotate and tilt attachments up to 360°.
In this article, we show you the advantages of a tiltrotator, the different designs available and how to find the right attachments.
What is a tiltrotator used for?
A tiltrotator allows you to rotate your excavator attachment endlessly by 360° and tilt it up to 55° to the left or right. This gives you maximum flexibility, enables more efficient work, saves time and reduces unnecessary repositioning of the excavator.
Especially on confined construction sites or during complex earthworks, this is a major advantage: with a tiltrotator, you can reach difficult positions without moving the machine – protecting the ground and reducing fuel consumption.
What mounting types are available?
Sandwich design
With the sandwich design, the tiltrotator is mounted between two quick couplers. The upper coupler connects the excavator to the tiltrotator, while the lower coupler connects the tiltrotator to the respective attachment. This allows you to quickly remove the tiltrotator when needed and continue working without it – particularly useful for heavy-duty applications or when operating multiple machines.
Fixed mounting
With fixed mounting, the tiltrotator is permanently installed on the excavator. This option is ideal if you regularly work with tilting and rotating functions, for example in civil engineering or landscaping.
Mechanical, hydraulic or fully hydraulic?
As with quick couplers, tiltrotators are available in three versions: mechanical, hydraulic and fully hydraulic. The fully hydraulic version offers the highest level of operating comfort – allowing you to change tools directly from the cab without leaving the machine. This saves valuable time and significantly increases safety on the construction site.
Your benefits at a glance
- ⏱️ Faster working: less machine movement and higher efficiency.
- 💰 Cost savings: reduced wear, lower fuel consumption and shorter setup times.
- 👷 Reduced manpower: less manual rework allows more targeted use of personnel.
- 🌱 More environmentally friendly: fewer repositioning movements protect the ground and reduce CO₂ emissions.
- 🔄 Maximum flexibility: a tiltrotator makes your machines far more versatile – ideal for construction and landscaping.
Finding the right attachment
A tiltrotator opens up many new application possibilities – but only with the right attachment can you unlock its full potential. At Baumashop24, you’ll find a wide range of attachments perfectly matched to tiltrotators.
Tiltrotator + grading bucket = maximum precision
If you want to use your tiltrotator for precise grading work, the TERR0X grading bucket is the ideal addition. It features a specially shaped, tapered rear profile that is perfectly suited to the full range of motion of the tiltrotator. This allows you to work precisely, cleanly and without limiting the movement radius.
